Baby Moon!

Josh and I decided we wanted one last trip away just the two of us before the baby comes.  We called it our Baby Moon and chose the Catalonia Royale in Tulum, Mexico!  The resort was located in the Riviera Maya. It was beautiful and absolutely perfect for our getaway.

Day #1-
Our plane left DFW at 6:10am.  Because we had to be there by 4:00am, we decided to pull an all-nighter so we wouldn't risk missing our alarm.  We made a Wal-Mart trip at midnight, packed, and watched t.v. until about 3:15am, then headed to the airport.  Our flight landed in Cancun, Mexico at 8:45am and we arrived at our resort about 10:30am.  We checked in, changed into our swimsuits, and headed to the beach.  We relaxed, walked up and down the beach, then hung out in the pool for the next few hours.  Josh played and won a horseshoe tournament, then played in a ping pong tournament too.  He wasn't so lucky in that game; he lost in the finals to a very good Italian man who looked just like Adam Levine in a speedo.  :)  After being in the sun all day, and being up for more than 36 hours straight, we headed to our room for a nap.  We ate dinner at the buffet that night, then called it an early night.

Day #2-
This day marked 22 weeks of pregnancy for me.  We took a few belly pics on the beach to show how much I've grown. The resort had tons of Coatimundi everywhere.  These are animals that resemble a mix between a raccoon and a monkey.  They were so neat.  Josh and I enjoyed feeding them and watching them interact with each other.  There were also Iguanas that roamed about.  We laid on the beach and relaxed in the pool for the majority of the day.  That night, we ate at the steak restaurant.  Josh got a Flank Steak and I ate Ribs.  I couldn't choose what dessert sounded best, so I ordered all three...cheesecake, chocolate cake, and apple pie!  That's one of the perks of an all-inclusive, you can eat and eat and it's no extra charge!  :)

Day #3-
Anyone who knows Josh knows his favorite hobby is golf.  He loves it so much, and I love getting to watch him play.  We scheduled a tee time for 3:00pm at the Playacar Resort in Playa del Carmen.  The shuttle picked us up and took us over to the golf course about 2:00pm.  Josh warmed up on the driving range, then it was time for us to get started.  I was his official cheerleader and photographer.  :)  The course was very hard.  There was jungle to the right and left, so if he didn't stay straight and narrow, the ball was in the brush. But, he enjoyed the challenge.  Once returning, we were tired and hungry.  We cleaned up, went to dinner at the Mexican restaurant, then watched the dance show.  It was a great day.

Day #4-
After waking up early and eating breakfast, we went back to our room to bum around for a bit until heading down to the beach.  We walked up and down the beach, talking, holding hands, and enjoying the amazing view.  I truly can't understand how people can see places as beautiful as this, and question God's existence. The ocean was a bright teal blue, the sand was soft and bright white, and the sun was beaming down perfectly.  In that moment, I felt so blessed to have the opportunity to make wonderful memories such as these with the man God made for me, and the man who will become the daddy to our sweet baby in just a few months.  After walking the beach, we headed to the pool and stayed out in the sun until about 7:00pm. It was a great last day of our trip.

Day #5-
This day was mostly devoted to travelling home.  After eating breakfast, we checked out, and waited for our shuttle to arrive.  We were sad to leave the beautiful resort and beach, but ready to get back to our home.

Our Baby Moon in Mexico was exactly what we needed and wanted before becoming parents.  It was a great way for us to spend time together, being lazy, and talking about exciting things coming our way.  I can't wait to be parents, but I love soaking up every second we can with just us two. :)

Blessed wife and mommy-to-be,
Hope
